Do the following: When you see the error, go to start->type 'devmgmt.msc' (no quotes) and press ctrl+shift+enter. Click Yes if UAC prompts. In the window, under Disk Drives, you should see your flash drive. Right click it and click Uninstall. After unistallation completes, in the menu bar, click Action and click 'Scan for hardware changes'. The device will be detected and the drivers will be installed.

ALso have tried on a 32bit Vista machine as well. It recognizes that the flash drive is there, but it is not registering that the drive exists. You can see it pops up in Printer and Devices as a mass controller device--right click it and its grayed out, but it want show up in explorer. Tried updating and says has the best driver, tried uninstalling and reinstalling same thing. Tried Mr Fix it, nothing.There is really no support to figure this out on the PNY website. I think the drive is actually faulty because it was working and then just decides to quit working. Any good advice would suffice on this.-Thanks.
I know this is an older post, but I figured I'd post the solution that worked for my 16gb PNY drive. This solution comes as a sort of 'reset' tool directly from PNY.
I was having a similar issue with my 16gb PNY Attache USB 2.0 drive where I could see it in Disk Management, but it showed up as 0mb size, and when I tried to open it, but I'd get a message saying there was no media inserted. After ~3 days (an eternity in my book) of constant troubleshooting, recovery tools, testing (all this even on a Mac), etc.
I FINALLY found a solution. Before I give you the link I'll warn you (and anyone else who might use it) that the tools on this page will erase your drive. I think in the OP's case that's OK, but I wanted to give that little disclaimer just in case.
